Religion is one of the most spectacular things there is in life, even if one does not chose to follow one. The many varieties of religious belief in the world has made the earth a fine place to explore. In this day and age, it is very easy to find information about your favorite religions, from the past or present, mythical or spiritual alike. Many people have used the internet to find just what kind of religion they would fit into. Even people who were raised in the same households as children, in the same childhood, have had very different religious beliefs. Most people know, basically, what Christianity is about, as it is the most popular religion in the world, but what about the other ones that we don't hear so much about?

One of the most misunderstood religions in the world is Satanism. Despite its title, it is not always revolved around the following of the Christian biblical antagonist. In fact, many Satanists do not believe that God or Satan exists, but follows the religion due to beliefs in the lifestyle and mindset of a Satanist. It is a fact, though, that Satanism is the polar opposite of Christianity in almost every way.

While the Christian faith teaches its followers to live a life of abstinence from sin. Satanism is a religion that encourages sin, for Satanists enjoy doing what feels good and indulging in the pleasurable. Life is short, the Satanist says, and it is time to enjoy it. However, a Satanist is not necessarily murderous, malicious, or loveless. In fact, a Satanist cherishes his or her loved ones most, while scorning those who disrespect him or her. A Satanist will not try to start a fight or quarrel that is useless and vain, he will only seek revenge on those who have made efforts to destroy the happiness or reputation of the Satanist.

Christians and Satanists do seem to agree on one thing, however. The body is something to take care of, and it should not be destroyed by addiction to drugs. However, a Satanist will indulge in alcohol or drugs on occasion, for pleasure, but not out of addictive, harmful impulse. Most devout Christians do not do any kind of partying at all, as most indulgences, even in small doses. There are so many more differences between the two religions, however.

The Satanists see themselves as their own gods, while Christians follow an external god. As one can imagine, having oneself as a god creates a lot more diversity in a religion than every member of a church following the same ideologies about most things. It is this freedom that attracts people to Satanism, whether they wish to practice the magic or the worshipping of an external Satan. In Christianity, God is Love, and in Satanism, You are Love.
